agreed! I've noticed a lot of discussion of racing and setting up of cars for racing in the various forums ... this ought to help keep racing related stuff centralized... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks Basil, for a forum that many of us will enjoy.

Note: This forum is multi-marque (so it won't be all about Spridgets). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

The idea is to discuss various subjects related to all types of motorsports, as it relates to Little British Cars.

I would guess that much of stuff here will touch on performance "mods" that might make a car faster at the track.

This forum will also relate to various different types of racing. These could include SCCA-type road-racing, autocross, track-days, time-trials, high performance driving schools, English-style trials, ralleys (off-road, TSD, gimmick, etc), and probably even land-speed racing and drag racing.
There's probably other motorsports events that relate to LBCs, but that's all I can think of right now.

And remember, play nice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grouphug.gif or you'll get the Black Flag! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Nice idea, and hope I find the time to read and participate. At present I am racing to go racing this season, so much to do ... so little time.
Getting closer.

A Most Excellent development!

Mike; I can ~almost~ make out the venturi locking spot on those Webers... Look like 40's, but can't see for sure if they've the 45 locking screws. Which are they?

...and how in the world did you get 'em so SHINY?!?

They are 40+ year old, 42DCOE, and polishing is just a lot of time and rotary tools, brushes, and rouge compounds. Polishing the outside of a head takes longer than the inside.
... another one

42's ?!?! I think I've only ever seen a set of 42 DCOE's ONCE in forty years and those on a Maser, a 101 series and they were "trips". HOW did you ever decide on 'em and THEN find a set?

I don't mean to be a PITA but I'm kinda curious about this. I know they're sort of "period" for the car, but the cross-flow head isn't (to my knowledge)... I'm perplexed, so to speak.

Four off twice and you're gone for the day!
Hopefully this forum will take off. I don't know how many of us race, but this should be fun.

I was talking to a lady at Nelson Ledges who rolled & continued.....

She said she was upset when they BF'ed her. (Just to shake her wheels)

They let her right back out after that "stop & go" for going "4 up". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They are period correct, and original for this particular car ... always been a race car since first landed in Canada in 1963. The pictures I have been posting are of the "mule" engine to get me to the track this year. In the future I will post some stuff about my primary engine.
The crossflow head is an HRG Derrington, not the modern MSX knockoff. I have attached an original track test done in 1964 of my car, and the original owner. (too big to include in message)

This is what the car "once was"

and this is "as rescued"

I am trying very hard not to "over-do" the restoration, leaving a few rippled panels, dents, and scars ... but I am not a painter so I sent it out for final paint ... he fixed the character marks. Oh well.

That's kinda ironic. Usually a body shop will all but ignore things like that for the sake of expediency. I think you may have a treasure in that panel beater. A shame to lose the "historic' dings and dibbishes, but straight ain't bad either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Quite a project. Nice. Will you put the original livery back on (as much as possible), too?
