Had a guy talking on the radio Saturday, was telling the host that he hoped it came over the area since if was the size of 2-3 buses as reported then he figured it would be easy to bring down with his rifle. They were trying to explain it was 10, 11 miles up but he was insistent that if he could gets birds then this would require more than a shot or two...

I suspect the guy was pulling some legs.
 
I think that's a German LTA (Lager Than Air) system.

There was a news story yesterday, seems every club capable of it in the US has been releasing small balloons since this broke. Said that they are being spotted all across the country, and even showed folks from several high school and college science clubs releasing them. So here's the newest fad...
