Little update on the crossmember and heelboard.
I recently painted the crossmember with MasterSeries Rust Sealer which was some pretty thick stuff. I did three coats of it which is what the manufacturer had recommended considering the pitting of the crossmember. I also decided to paint the inner side of the heelboard with the same paint. I gave it a key with some 80 grit then applied two coats.
I decided to get some Clecos and I am happy that I did! Really makes mocking these panels up quite simple. Last night I finished drilling my plug welds for the lower crossmember and now I need to drill them for the parcel shelf. I’m thinking that by the end it will be about 100 plug welds in total. It seems excessive but with this being such a major structural part of the car, I think it will be worth it.
Tonight I plan on welding it in place, finally closing this chapter of the book.
Next chapter will be lower A posts and floors. Wish me luck!!
Cheers
