GT6 GT6's

When the time comes for final assembly of the interior, I have a bunch of the aluminized heat shield blanket that will be installed. The plastic tunnel cover is already installed, and I have some thicker padding for under the carpet, as well.
Mine is an overdrive car, and I've got a Salisbury type limited slip 4.10 rear end I may just drop in to see how it performs. Or, the 4.56 I also have would make it a real "screamer". Literally!

Well the GT6 is a great little car, had a few. My most fun came from taking a Spit, a GT6+ with O/D a TR6 engine with the GOOD manifold, a few other goodies and threw them in the blender and mixed up a Spit 6 2.5 litre with O/D w/3.89 diff. Dusted my friends Lotus +2 3 for 3. One happy, one sad face that day. Absolutely cheap thrills.

I recall a year or two ago an article in Grassroots Motorsport (IIRC) comparing an E-Type, a Porsche 356 and a minivan (Honda?) in performance at the track. The E-Type was quickest in a straight line, but the minivan spanked the classics in braking and handling! 30 years of additional technical development is hard to beat. Of course, the minivan driver wouldn't be having any fun, and wouldn't have the same sense of accomplishment from simply arriving at the destination!

Aloha,

I agree that you can pretty much modernize any classic car, LBC or otherwise, you just have to take the time to do it correctly and use a little ingenuity.

GT6's are pretty cool lookin' little cars and I'm definitely going to consider getting one. As far as fitting in them, I can fit in my friend's Porsche 550 replica which is pretty tiny...so I guess I'll be fine in a GT6.

aloha,
Joel
