Easy Beef Brisket Recipe

I have never been able to properly cook a beef brisket. Went to a party recently that served beef brisket (8 of them, large party) as the main meat. Melted in your mouth. The chef was nice enough to share his easy recipe for the perfect brisket.

Season a whole brisket with your favorite spices (I just coated it with Cajun seasoning. Is there anything else?) and insert in one of those turkey-size plastic cooking bags. No liquid needed. Close the end with the included tie and punch a few holes in the top of the bag. Lay in a large pan and cook it in the oven at 200* for 10 hours. No more, no less. Prep time, 4 minutes. When it comes out, you can eat it with a spoon. Unbelievable.

My ex-brother-in-law can make the best Texas brisket --- hands down! Mesquite's a key factor!

By the by - shrimp Creole's on the table here tonight!

The wife has a very large crock cooker and the meat she cooks in it when done, is the most tender meat I've ever eaten. I wonder if brisket would fare well in one? PJ

"It'd have to be a really big crockpot!" With apologies to Dudley Moore...

Yum is right. Bet you don't have a problem with vampires what with 36 cloves of garlic.

My Canadian cousin has almost the same recipe for beaver brisket except after gutting the beaver, you fill the body cavity with an appropriate sized rock. Then, after the 10 hours, you take out the beaver, throw it away and eat the rock!!

There's a Texas style rib place near me called Smoque that has amazing brisket. They also have hand made cole slaw. I've got my family hooked on making brisket sandwiches - fresh roll, thick layer of the cole slaw, bbq sauce, 2-4 slices of brisket, more sauce! Major league YUM!!

I wonder if they're open NOW!!!??
