battery drain

ok i have one lead on the post and one on the Neg cable.
both the DCA 20m and 200m tick down to Zero so i just keep pulling fuses till something happens.
do i need the key in the first position? or since the battry drains while parked that is not part of the issue.

steve

Key should be out.
That's the situation where the issue is.

Glovebox lamp is another gremlin to look for. Dickey switch or mis-adjusted and not switching off with lid closed.

"Modern" radios are another draw, always some voltage to keep the memory settings.

A 12V test light works instead of a VOM, too. And easily seen from the other end of the car. Bright= full draw. Dull glow= radio, alarm trigger circuit, etc.

no luck so it could be the radio thats modern.
but also the new alienator (its been back to the shop and checked) is not charging the battry enough so it drive it for a half hour its dead.

What is your battery voltage when run at idle and above.

let me re-test im not sure if that was before the new altinator

Sorry been o work or our days, dont have much chance to ollow up on posts when im at home, her indoors keeps me busy, :sneaky:

you need to remove positive rom the battery, connect one lead to the positive cable and one lead to the negative lead,
this way you have removed the battery rom the system and are reading ohms draw rom the possitive to ground.
i you connect to the battery post you are only reading resistance throught the battery.

darn laptop playing up here the ÂŁrickin eÂŁ not working.

well it wont start. the battery is full even tried the jump kit.
turn the key and nothing, usably if the battery is down it trys to fire. the relays are clicking
where is the starting relay??
steve

well the key dose nothing it ran in december. the dash lights turn on the radio comes on and the interior lights.
I found the starter relay, I dont seem to get the starter relay out, not sure the trick on these, dont want to break it.
if its the key im screwed i only have one.
an video on youtube said it could be the body control module behined the glove box. could that be hte heart of all my issues?

ok I got the relay out the wires going in are white and white with a brown trace, so if its like the B or the Spridget that should be the one.
ill try and trigger it tomarrow. although sun dose set after 10pm tonight.

ok if its not the starter relay
how do i re pair the key to the car?

ok the immediate problem is its in some sort of safe mode and the keyfob only works intermittently ( yes, fresh batteries )
I have the car on the charger again.

Unplug a fuse at a time or all and add as youbcheck. Do not forget modules at each headlight and tailight.
