Hi all

I have owned my BN7 for approx. 1.5 years now and am still discovering new things every time I touch it. Just recently, I cut my hand when reaching into the door pocket and noticed that the lower screws from the door trim are protruding inside the pockets.

Easiest solution is of course to just shorten the screws.
However, I was wondering what the factory-original solution to this problem was: Did they use shorter screws, cover the screws or maybe even lift the bottom of the door pocket?
Unfortunately, such details do not seem to be covered in any of the restoration guides or "originality books".

Any Ideas on what was originally intended? How is the problem solved on your cars?

In the factory parts list, AKD1151 4th edition, two part numbers are given for the screws: 54K3014 and RJP604 (no change date). The second number follows the BMC fastener code and is 1/2" long.

Mine is not original, but I solved the problem with small blocks (3/4" cubes) of wood that they screw into.

You can buy screw sleeves at just about any hardware store if you don't want to buy the shorter screws. They are made of thick vinyl and come in a variety of sizes.
