Zenith Stromberg Question???

Please forgive me for invading the triumph forum(lol), but I bought a tr6 carb and I can't get the float bowl off the Zenith Stromberg carb. Instead of the push in plug, this carb has what looks like a very very large flat blade screw in it. How does it come out? Left hand thread?? Any help apreciated, Its like they say allow 15 mins to get the first screws out and 4 days for the last one when working on a british car.
Thanks

Robert:

I'm not quite sure what you mean.
Are you talking about screws #32 or #33 below?
Usually PB Blaster (spray) and a hand-hit impact screwdriver will remove them. In some cases you can hit them with a hammer and punch and turn them counter-clockwise (to loosen) or grab them with a needle-nose Vise-Grips and twist them out.

No I am refering to the plug in the float bowl, mine is a very large screw. I guess it is #29
Thanks

When I worked the ones loose on my GT6 I soaked it in WD-40 for a while and thenwrapped a piece of thin rubber ( I think it was my wife's jar-lid opener) around the edge of the plug ( to protect it )and gently worked it loose with some channel lock pliers. After you barely break it loose it should come on out with a large straight blade screw driver

One of those CDSE Carbs. Sometimes an impact screwdriver will knock them loose, or a large flat blade with a wrench on the shank. A good soaking and some persuasion are generally all that are required.

If you mean the plug in the middle of the float bowl, it doesn't have to be removed in order to get the float bowl off the carb, only the 5 or so screws around the periphery of the float bowl need to be removed in order to remove the float bowl. I believe the plug is a press fit, not screwed in.

You may have one of the very early carbs with an adjustable jet. There should also be a nut to loosen as well.
