I’m looking at YouTube videos showing that it’s easier to install new door waist seals if the window and bottom holder are removed, or if the “window stop” inside the door is removed. I’ve never done either. Is there a recommendation from folks here as to the best procedure to go about installing the inner and outer waist seals?

I do remember my last effort, though successful, being a royal pain with the window obstructing any reasonable access. That little hook tool for the clips was barely helpful.

I’d also appreciate any suggestions on installing new plastic water curtains inside the door or behind the finished interior panel.

Thanks all. . .

Having recently replaced the window mechanism and previously replaced the waist seals. My opinion is the least you have to remove the better off you are. And along that same thought I did NOT replace the plastic rain curtain. Where I live and use my cars I do not expect to be in the rain hardly ever. And I could not figure any way to put the plastic in there.
If I figured I needed the shield I would mount the plastic on the back of the door panel.

Do you remember anything about that supposedly removable window stop allowing the window to drop down out of the way?

The window stop at the bottom, I recall is easily removable and yes you should be able to lower the window a slight bit.

I removed the stop. Cool. But how does that long coat hanger rod go back in? Does it just hook onto each window track or do the ends fit into designated holes?

I do not recall but am sure it was fairly obvious.
