I've been wanting to put a third brake light on my 6 for sometime... one that could go on and off very easy and not be permanently attached to the car. I bought a Whelan strip light off of a police motorcycle, took some aluminum sheet, and channel and decided to make my own.
I mounted a one inch bar between the trunk hinges and slotted the sheet metal so it would slide in and lock down with two knobs. Hopefully you get the idea from the photos below.
Sorry for the quality of the photos in my garage... too much glare from the overhead lights.
Since you can choose about 7 or 8 brake light patterns, I have mine set to flash three times VERY FAST and then go to steady red while my foot is on the brake.
