I checked the factory repair manual and a second manual, but no picture. I have a parts amnual, but will need a part number to check as the parts manual does not have many pictures. Looks like a by-pass solenoid to me, but have never seen one.
Factory manual here shows a "plug" on the 3.5L illustration in that port. It's likely an oil pressure sensor, but same as Larry, I don't recall seeing that fitted on any 3.5's we've done.
If two wires come from it, there may have been an electrical OP gauge fitted at some point in the car's history?
Just had a thought: could that be some sort of "block heater" fitted for colder winter climates? Can you ohm it out? Maybe with engine both off and running? Just speculating as to what it might be. If resistance varies with running/not running it would tend to indicate a pressure device. If constant resistance in both states, it could well be a warming device. The wires appear to be heavier than a sender would need.
good thinking. but I cant run the engine at the moment.
when i got the car there was a canvases roll that would cover the radiator behind the grill.

Might peal the wires back to find a color of insulation. IE: black, red or white. Aftermarket, or purple\pink or black\red, more factory color. Might even be house color codes for electric heater plug into wall outlet.
the wires are cloth wrapped in colour then a white wrapping then rubber then a woven metal mesh.
yes it looks like it was well installed. dont think ill try it. its now a summer car.
