Not sure exactly what you mean when you say the 'alloy of steel'?
The bodywork, with the exeception of the front and rear 'shrouds', is I believe, made of mild carbon steel and thus very susceptible to rusting if unprotected.
The shrouds (the top pieces that surround the bonnet and the boot lid), are made of aluminium, probably 'Birmabright' alloy, which is 93% aluminium and 7% magnesium.
Electrolysis can cause corrosion where these two metals meet.

Yes, you are correct, if it is mild steel, it is not a steel alloy. I was just curious if the details of the steel (designation number)used in these autos (esp. ca. 1959) was known.
