Stag Went to look at a Stag today......

I went out today to look at a Triumph Stag. Based on a buyers guide I found in a Practical Classics magazine, I had prepared a check list for things to look for.

The inspection was satisfactory, but the following items need to be addressed if I buy the Stag:
1) Coolant was sitting in the engine vee, which means the water pump may be leaking. How much is a new pump and how involved is the repair.
2) The left bank of the V8 had a rattle in the top end. The oposite bank did not have this rattle. This could be a broken valve spring or tappet noise. Please advise here also.
3) At 40-45 mph, the steering wheel shakes, but this dissapears when going faster.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated as I am diciding on the amount of money I want to offer.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in here, but Stag's are a somewhat rare breed. Their V8's can be finicky of not cared for properly.

I'd get an idea of parts costs from Rimmer or similar in the UK. I'm not sure who stocks the engine parts here in the US.
