Wedge TR7 Heater Core

Along with all of the other repairs to the 7 this winter, I'm replacing the heater core. I removed most of the dash today to get the heater assembly out and found much corrosion in the old unit. I went to the shelf to get the new one (VB # 12-024) and they are not even close, the new one is about half the hieght as the old one. The hose connections are completely different, and the old one is a four row and the new one is a three row.

Anybody else out there ever run into the same issue? If so, how did you end up dealing with it?

Wish I could help. The only advice I can offer is that in changing out the heater core in my '66 Series II-A Land Rover, I found a similar situation as the heater cores are manufactured to different designs. If they changed during the model run, the remanufacturers select only one as the "correct" model. As some of the newer designs are more efficient, I wouldn't worry too much about the different in the number of rows or even the smaller size. Just having a clean one will make a huge difference in your heater.

Good luck,

Jeff
