TR6 TR6 to the Rescue! [aka, Oh, the Irony!]

My daily driver... a 2005 Acura TL... started acting up Friday night while coming home from Warren, NJ, not wanting to start after taking a break at one of the rest stops on the Turnpike.

I finally got her going, and drove her home.

Yesterday, I head out to a baby shower, and BLAM. Acura stalls when doing 60 in a middle lane of a 3 lane strip. Pull over, call for help, and the father in law comes and gets us.

It was a nice day, so I hopped into the TR6, top down, and headed back toward the Acura. Waited 2 hours for the roadside service to come tow me.

But I wonder... how many people drove past my two cars... the TR6 first, then the Acura... thinking "Piece of crap British car!" when in reality, it was the Acura!

Thank goodness for the TR being in running shape!

Gave me a good excuse to take her out today as well! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Anyway... just wanted to share the irony. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

A couple of times friends have phoned me when they have broken down. I always make a point of going to rescue them in the TR!

I few months back, the alternator fried on my wife's Discovery. She called me at work and I came to give her a jump, I happened to be driving the TR6 that day. I'm sure it was the first time this TR6 ever rescued another car, however I'm not sure how much I can gloat here since both cars were British.

I did make a point to my wife that the car that I came in was indeed "That thing in the garage that doesn't run."

Serves you right for going to a baby shower!

I like these kinda stories....In my case my LBC's are more reliable than my daily drivers(one of which is british anyway...sorta).

The very best rescue... A lady at the club, (golf course) kind of a snob type person, drives a Beemer convert. I had an old, 1976,rusty F250 Ford. She came walking up the drive and asked if I could give it a jump because the battery was dead. I could have used my Sable but I used the old truck instead. I told her that Ol Rusty has always wanted to jump a Beemer. Life is good always, great sometimes.
