TR6 TR6 body to frame location

Greetings:

My 73 TR6 seems to have a misalignment between the body and the frame. The actual wheel alignment is good, but the tire on the right rear sticks out more than the tire on the left--and the left front sticks out ever so slightly more than the right front. So, it looks like the body isn't sitting square on the frame. It doesn't look to weird statically, but when it's going down the road, it's pretty evident that the body isn't pointed in the same direction as the travel of the vehicle. :eeek:

What determines the body to frame alignment, and how much adjustment is there there? I can't imagine that there is none, based on the quality of the fit of the rest of the body panels...

I suppose the thing to do is loosen all of the body to frame bolts and give the body a shove?

First thing to check, IMO, would be the diagonial measurements on the frame to insure that it is square. The 'dog trot' look going down the road would indicate frame problems. Measure the wheel base on each side, it should be the same side to side. If not, frame is bent on one side, or is racked left front to right rear or right front to left rear. An alignment shop might be in your future as they would give you the answers eaiser and quicker than you could do yourself.

There is some body mount alignment adjustments that can be had by loosening the body mount bolts, but not a lot.

Oh, yeah, and WELCOME to the forum. Glad to have you join us.

Thanks-Glad to be here.

I seem to recall from the last 4-wheel alignment that I did that there was a measurement for 'wheel setback'-- and that that number was fine. Of course, now that I look for the alignment sheet, I can't find it :frown:
