TR2/3/3A TR3 Fuel Sending Unit

Nothing more fun than rust in the fuel tank and a rusty fuel sending unit! The tank is being cleaned and I now need to purchase a replacement fuel sending unit.

I've heard mixed stories about replacement units from Moss but it was an old post I read. Can anyone recommend the best source, it's for my '58 TR3A. The numbers on the existing unit are FT333/02 12v.

This is the last piece to getting my TR on the road.

Thanks!

Yeah, I got stung by the Moss unit, but that was about 6-7 years ago, so many they got it right now. Anyway, I got one from ebay, but the vendor that I got it from (noslocaters) doesn't show for the TR3 at the moment. I did have trouble with the the plastic float getting a hole in it from the sharp edge of the wire that wraps around it, but the vendor did send me another float. I also bought a brass one as a back-up that comes from a Ford sending unit and fits perfectly.

Here's a listing from someone else on Ebay that has one similar to the one that I got, but it looks closer to original than the Moss unit.

Here's a picture of the different units...left to right Moss, Ebay (from noslocaters), Original

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I went ahead and ordered the Moss unit so hoping that it's sorted out and better than what you went through years ago. The gas tank is being dipped and cleaned so with the new fuel sending unit, I should be in good shape!

I attached a photo of the current unit...not pretty! That's what happens after sitting for so long.

When you receive the Moss unit, compare it to the pic I posted above...the Moss unit is on the left. If it has the arm swinging from the middle, it will not indicate fuel contents properly because of that.

If the Moss unit doesn't work out, and you don;t want to do the fleabay route, TRF shows it (part # 203610), and I would be confident that they have it right.
