Tr 3 trunk lid

Hi guys,
Got stuck.....I am refitting all panels to make sure all is Ok before painting.
The trunk lid is a great fit except the new hinges seem to bind. They work fine before you bolt them in place and then there seems to be an alignment problem. As I lift the lid they seem to want to pivot sideways. I know because I can see them doing this, as I don't have the body part of the hinge fully tightened. The more I tighten the worse it gets and I am afraid to break the hinges. Tried shimming but no fix.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Dorien

:iagree:
Also make sure you got a pair, instead of two of the same hinge. If you look carefully, you should be able to see that the pivot pin is not parallel to the bottom of the hinge. The outside edge of the hinge is slightly taller than the inside edge, to match the curvature of the trunk lid & body.

Thanks to both of you. Yes I see the little difference. All working well and with some minor fiddling I now have a good fit.

Hah! The BCF provides again. Aren't we lucky to have a place to go to
when you need a bit of help! It has been my "go to" spot for a number of years, It has been a source of help, information and inspiration with a liberal dose of humor thrown in for good measure. My thanks to everyone on the forum.
Ya gotta love the forum!

Cheers, Tinkerman

I agree! If it weren't for the BCF, I would have given up long ago.
