TR5/TR250 TR 250 Vin #

According to the Moss Motors catalog, the Commission Number for US models from 1968-'69 & for UK models from 1967-'74 is stamped on the left-hand front wheel arch.

Remember that the commission number (the "vin") and the engine number are different.

My friend is a TR6 owner and aTR250 comes from a heritage from a cousin, his cousin dismantled the car in order for a full restoration, the cousin die, he completed the restoration, but when he try to register the car at DOT they can't find the original registration and tell him he has to pay taxes like the car is recently imported
 
I haven't checked on the TR250, but Moss. The Roadster Factory, Victoria British often sell blank commission plates for these cars, I am not suggesting you buy one and make one up, which would be illegal, but if you get the number replicate what you had, tell DOT you found it and maybe you can do a little better with them.

Let us know if you have found or have the number.

My TR250 is number 2004 if I recall correctly, with a CTC or whatever the leading letters are on all of them.

TR250's commission numbers started with CD1 and ended at CD8594. The engine serial number started at CC1E and sometimes is not the same as the commission number but should be close if not. The differential number, as well as the gearbox, started at CD1.

<span style="color: #990000">Gardener- look for a stamped plate on the engine
block, directly over the mechanical fuel pump, near the distributor.
My TR250 engine block is stamped CC4295E

Here is Greg Durocher's TR 250. Greg lives in Plattsburg, NY. It bears Comm. No. 1. It was the first TR 250 to be built on the S-T production line. Before this, the factory had been building TR5s with "petrol injection".

Hi Gardener,
I understand you just had your new TR6 arriving in PR.
While I've bought a TR6 in PR, waiting to be shipped out of San Juan.
Hope you'll have an easier process importing yours than I experience exporting mine. Good luck!

I'm not really sure Gardener. I bought the car in June, paid for transport early september, but since then little has happened. They say it's sitting ready in the docks of San Juan, but I'm too far away (Norway) to know for sure. For all I know, the car may be cruising around PR somewhere... :smile:

When I get on the phone to PR, the shipping agent tells me that only details remain before the car is shipped off, but this has been going on for weeks and weeks.
Last month they claimed they needed clearence from PR Police Stolen Vehicle Division, then they were waiting for a container number, and two weeks ago they suggested the TR would leave PR yesterday (12th.)
Since then I haven't received answers to my mails, and I don't get through to "the man" who handles my case.

Perhaps you have heard of this company? They're called La Rosa del Monte/ World Wide Movers (tel 787-251-5069) and the man I'm trying to reach is Mr. Fernando Marin Rodriguez (cell 787-398-8108).

Needless to say, it's somewhat frustrating to know so little about what goes on, and should you know somebody in PR who could help me find out, I would be greatful.

Guess you know all about being anxious to receive shipment of TRs.....

off Kennedy Ave? Or over by Isla Grande airport?

We could drive over and look for the blue TR6.
I have all day Friday with no work scheduled.
We could drive a TR6 to find a TR6!!

Is Mr. Miracle at your house now??

Very generous of you! Unfortunately I don't have the bill of lading #, not even a bill of sales. It's somewhat embarassing how little documentation I have to show, friends tell me I'm naive since transferring all the money across the Atlantic without as much as a receipt.
They're probably right, all I can say is "Gotta have some faith".

Dale, I like your idea of riding TR reconnaisance around the docks. It has been said by Fernando Marin that it's loaded into a container, and if so you need to break out that x-ray vision.

Since I haven't received any bill of lading or container #, it's actually not easy to know where this car is keeping itself. If you get hold of Mr. Rodriguez, he may have some answers, and I guess these are easier to second check when sitting closer.

Anxious is my middle name :smile:

BTW, the puertorican VIN is CF10295U. And the license plate reads HGD-724.

Your car is already in a container, today I spoke with Mr. Marin and he told me they're going to send you the bill of lading #, the shiping company he told me is named SIM liners.

I am forever greatful, Gardener. I think him receiving a local call from someone with intimate knowledge of shipping TRs made all the difference.
I subsequently got Fernando on the phone myself today, finally.
He told me you had been on the phone with him, and suddenly he could provide me with substancial news. I'm beginning to feel my TR-future is looking bright.

It's almost as I regret stealing a TR6 away from PR, from you and Dale. But only almost :smile:

Good thing you didn't have to go hunting blue TR6s, since it was hidden away in a container, and I hear your x-rayvision isn't what it used to be.
Or perhaps it could have been a nice excursion regardless the odds.

You car is being protected from the day after rainy
day we are having. Leave home with sun shining and
ten minutes later the sky bursts open with water.

W are all looking forward to how the tropical TR6
enjoys the chill of Norway.

TR6, boating and fishing and throw in a few of
pretty girls.

I'm glad things are finally moving.

I'll give you steady reports, including girls on the bonnet etc.
It will be arriving here in the cold season, so I may have to get winter tires for moving around from docks and customs etc.
