Hi guys - and tips on pulling an engine out of the Bugeye? Not going to do it right away, just want to start thinking about.

I imagine pulling the bonnet would make it a snap, yes?

Pulling the bonnet makes it easier, but it can be done without pulling the bonnet if you are careful and pull the engine and tranny separately. It is MUCH easier on your back if you pull the bonnet. Drill some alignment holes through the hinge/bonnet to make replacing it easier.

Before loosening and removing the bonnet hinges. Drill a couple of 1/8" holes through the hinge and bonnet reinforcement. Then when you reinstall you can use these holes to realign the bonnet on the hinges.

Raising the back of the car higher than the front makes it easier to remove the whole assembly. Don't forget to drain the oil from the tranny either or you'll get a big ole mess.

I index the bonnet hinges on all Sprites.
Bolt it up, make sure the lines and fitment are to your liking.
Now drill 2 small holes through each hing, insert a small roll pin in each hole.
After you remove the bonnet the first time, enlarge the holes in the hinges, not the bonnet by the next size drill bit.
Now when you replace the bonnet it will slip over the roll pins and be perfectly aligned.
When I say roll pin, I use a pin that is smaller than 1/8", nobody will ever know you have them there unless you tell them.
