Finally finished, well almost, rebuild on three late 29K BJ8 engine. All were apart, needing major work and from different locations. Where and how many of the big brass nuts are used on exhuast and intake studs. Picture anyone?

But only one has a distributor and thermostat, so the rest are spares he is going to keep in the trunk. Besides, I have two spare engines, but not rebuilt.

Have all the stuff for all three, just haven't got that far. The with distr. on it is matching numbers for the car I'm getting started on. One is bored .040 over with high lift cam, my brother gets it for his 100/6 (Longbridge mtr) and the third one I will keep unti I know the other two are fine and then sell. Its all std. Can someone post a picture showing location of where the brass nuts are used onthe manifolds?

All the nuts on all the manifolds are brass with a nice fat washer under them. Some copper grease too, this in the hopes that if they need to come off, they do so without trashing the stud threads.

Marv, some of the studs are used to attach only the intake manifold, and some are used to attach only the exhaust manifold OR both the exhaust and intake manifold flanges. Brass nuts are used for all studs that involve the exhaust manifold. Steel nuts are used only for those studs that attach only the intake manifold.

Steve,
that makes sense to me. Engines are tucked away for now. Sandblasting the BJ8 tub right now. Sand in my ears and everywhere else but its going pretty good.

Hope these help. Steve sent them to me a few years ago. There are 3 different sized studs that screw into the Head.

Would it be possible to repost these pictures at a larger size? - can't read any of the details. Thank you.
they were very clear when I first received them so I'll check for originals. I upgraded to Windows 10 and I'm missing files...ugh.

Here they are, slightly modified and updated. If the text in any of them is still too small to read, contact me and I'll send them directly to you.
