I don't mind learning from mistakes, and it seems my latest was greasing up the rear axles of my solid axel TR4A after installing new oil seals in the axle tubes. The grease is spinning out and fouled my rear brakes. I've cleaned up the mess and replaced the brake shoes but time will tell whether I need to pull the axles and get the grease out. I'd think it would settle and stabilize after a few hundred miles. Was I only to grease the splines and leave it at that?
 
The seal should still hold it in, unless you are building pressure in the axle case. You may need to double check the axle vent to ensure it is open. I rebuilt mine and capped the vent, since it was 3 years between the rebuild and when I installed the axle. I forgot to remove the cap...and had the same experience you are having.
 
Thanks for the heads up!! I'll check that now. I guess I should pull it and clean it, and just reinstall?
