Randall - how was the Yosmite drive?

The Yosemite trip was outstanding! We actually took 3 days, went through Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks on the first day, and visited Yosemite on the second day. A total of 8 Triumphs made the run : a Stag, a TR3, and six TR6.

Weather was kind of hot down in the lowlands (wife said I looked like a cooked lobster last night

) but the higher elevations in the parks were just perfect for top-down driving. There's been a lot of law enforcement activity recently, so we were careful to adhere to the posted speed limit, which made for a nice, casual drive and lots of sight seeing. Beautiful views around every corner! Yosemite Falls (highest in North America) was dry (as usual, this time of year), but Bridal Veil Fall was doing it's thing. We had a great time, and look forward to doing it again.

The TR3 ran hotter than I would have liked, but never boiled even when the other cars were having troubles. That Hayden fan really works! I had a few electrical gremlins too ... guess I really should have done something to isolate the wires for the wiper motor (which is still in a box somewhere). Now to get that pesky generator repaired, so I can go on the "Falling Leaf Tour" next Saturday! We're going to drive some similar roads, but much closer to home in the Santa Monica mountains.

Long road trips with other old British cars are grand, I hope to do several a year now that I have the time and am finding more folks in my area willing to do these.

Have one to Santa Fe this coming Thursday. Like you we will put up with some heat in the desert (despite an early start) but get to altitude ASAP.

I regret that I never got to Sequoia for a photo of my TR parked on top of the Auto Log -- have one of the VW on there from years ago but I think they finally realized that sort of thing really wasn't in the spirit of John Muir (but fun nonetheless).

Wife and I take the TR4 to Yellowstone every other year. Great fun to tour the park in an old car with the top down. Those buffalo arses are tall though.
