Question on Moss red vs. black poly bushings

Gotta love Klevin at Moss, he got right back to me and here is what is said;

"The red poly bushings are manufactured for us by a company that specializes in complete polyurethane kits for many cars. The kits come with a lubricating grease as the red poly is pretty stiff and will tend to squeak when dry.

The black poly bushings are manufactured by a different company and are a slightly softer compound. Normally I would not grease these bushings, as they seem to do well without it. They are also excellent if you want the undercarriage to remain stock looking.

I'd suggest the black bushings for street driven cars as they stiffen up the suspension, but do not transmit as much vibration as the red ones."

Red are made by Prothane in the US. Good quality and great for road and fast road.

The black are generic sourced by Moss. Good replacement for stock rubber.

Didn't someone just recently post that those were commissioned by BPNW, specifically to duplicate the hardness of stock rubber?

I love my black ones. Tightened up the handling and don't notice any harder ride. Plus I've auto crossed both cars and am very competitive with them. Got them in the 250 and the 3.

I've used Prothane and Energies before, good stuff. VERY stiff though. They do squeak when dry, but thats why you have to grease them before even having them pressed in.

Yep, Leighton at BPNW said they designed them, have them manufactured, and sell them to vendors. They did it in response to the rubber quality issue with stock bushings.

I got a set of Energy Suspension Red bushings (for the M*).
Are these the same as Moss sells (& the same stiffness as the-
other Red ones being discussed here?

Moss sells Prothane brand "red" bushings. Don't know if Energy Suspension is related to Prothane or not. Energy also makes a decent quality bushing across the board.

I love my Prothane bushings! BIG difference over the stock mushy rubber. Work to put them in, but well worth the effort.
