StrippingItDown_6_8_2008.jpg

Engine and trans out, most everything out/off the front of the car.

Dash is out so now I can get a few more things off the firewall.

Next will be the suspension and all the other "little" pieces off and then the body will be ready to be media stripped.

And no, it will NOT be ready for LotO.

Progress is a wonderful thing. I could use a bit of that myself.

Nice work!

Love that progress stuff.

So what size tires did you put on those wheels? Looking good at this point.

Good for you! Looks pretty solid from here, do you have to replace any metal?

Thanks for the comments!

I purchased a set of 145r13 tires when I first purchased the car (it sat in a grainary for ~ 20 years and the tires were, let's say, not round any longer) and I borrowed a set of tires/wheels from a friend to get it dragged home.

He needed his tires/wheels (had a set of Bizzarks (sp?) snow tires and it was December when I got it) back for his DD (69 Sprite.)

My left rear lower quarter is rusted where the trunk floor meets the fender and there are other places that may need replacing once I get the paint off of it (once it has been media stripped with baking soda) and I can see what is missing!

Meda blasting will not take rust off.

It will get the paint off so I can cut the rust out!

Surface rust I can deal with. Rust holes I need to patch. This way I can see what is under the paint job that was put on this car > 20 years ago. I am hoping it isn't too bad but after watching "Muscle Car" on Spike TV yesterday where they had a firebird media blasted and it returned a holey mess, I am hoping for better luck!

I know the old saying when dealing with LBCs. The definition of not much rust is you cannot put BOTH feet thru the hole!

If you can find somebody who still uses sand - that's the way to go! It'll get everything off & put holes where the rust was......media won't get rid of rust or bondo or other body putty.....so you'll not see what's under it until you manually dig it off.
