Just learned that soon we can get just about any car option we want - but for a monthly fee.

BMW's choices:

These are monthly fees! And not just for BMW!

Is any BCFr already caught in the web?

Amazes me why anyone would even think of doing that! Well, unwary people get caught in these traps every day. Being drunk with blinders on would help!

“A fool and their money are soon parted.”

When we bought my wife’s car we saved a lot of money by getting the second level trim package which is every bit as comfortable and functional as the higher levels. The fact that we have smart phones and we can plug them into the console gets us up to date maps etc. The rest of the gimmicky crap like level sensors etc etc we don’t need and didn’t want to fix when it breaks. It makes me mad though that something like heated seats can be charged for when the car is equipped with them to start with; the manufacturer is then profiting off them in perpetuity even after the initial purchase. Most of those items above are stupid anyway. Rip off!

You ain't seen nothin' yet -

(Wait 'til they start charging monthly fees to keep the parking brake functional ...)

Remember when airlines served meals that were included in the ticket price? Now even peanuts cost extra for many passengers.

Yea, saw a story about that over the weekend, seems they're all looking at things like that. A monthly fee for not needing to use the fob button to unlock the door for example. I suspect that if they could, the corporate world would just not provide anything, just send each of us a bill for say, $100 bucks a month we'd have to pay. Then they'd only need accountants to count the money and executives to pat themselves on the back, while providing no actual product

"I can't do that, Dave."
