Part sources other than the big catalog guys

I need to replace my driver's side trailing arm on my 6. None of the big catalog guys carry them and I checked a bunch of junk yards in Dallas with no luck.

Any ideas where I could find one?

Hi,

I'm at work right now and I don't have links handy, but you could Google:

TSI Automotive (Ted Schumacher)

Team Triumph (Scott Harper)

No personal experience or financial interest with them, but they always get good reviews. Both companies are located in Ohio and sell new and used parts. The trailing arms also show up on eBay sometimes when cars get parted out.

I haven't looked at one in a while, but it seems like Hemmings used to have quite a few new and used parts sellers in the Triumph section.

I'm sure some other Forum members will have suggestions.

Good luck,

E-bay?
Years and years ago {more than I care to remember I used to work in a "junk yard"} We had what was then called a "HOT LINE" kinda like a radio that was connected to other yards in the western U.S. . We could put out a call on this "Radio" or more like a land line, for parts we didn`t have on hand and other yards would answer {if they had the part available} We then would make arrangements to have the part shipped either directly to the purchaser or to our yard for later payment and pickup. I don`t know if yards still operate in this manner but it might be a question to ask them concerning the part you need to locate.

not very good, but here is a picture of it.

Have you tried British Auto Specialists in Fort Worth? Jeff Sloan used to have a pretty good selection of used spares - better than trying to call the local wrecker. Here's a link:

British Auto Specialists

There's also a place called Sports Car Wharehouse in the metroplex area, but I'm not familiar with what they might have. Don't forget the Red River Triumph Club either.

try this web site. it searches auto recycler web sites for you

https://car-part.com/

make sure the "-" is in there or else you get a jcwhitney website. Sorry I don't know how to make it a link. I've found some rover parts this way; so maybe it will help.

my search turned up best foreigh parts in colorado springs as a possiblilty?

Paul Oglesby, in Madisonville, Kentucky, has a treasure trove of parts, both NOS and used. Don't think he has a website, but PM me if you want a phone number.

Spitbits has been a great source of parts, including good salvage parts. They've been great for me on parts like this. They have an online catalog for GT6 which is great.

Atlanta Imported Auto Parts has been a great source & support for British sports car enthusiasts for decades. They're great.

Matthews Foreign Car Parts has apparently from the beginning of time itself been the mysterious Ali Baba's Cave of sports car salvage parts. Need new trailing arms? Cheese Head Screws for the front bearer plate? A spring from an XK 140 distributor? You call them & they send one. They're great, but somehow unearthly, like maybe it's being run by Fu Manchu as part of his plan of world domination & keeping funky sports cars on the road. They have no website, only the Ouija-like phone number:

Rotoflex,

Don't know where you got your information about spitbits, but it is not true. I talked to Nigel yesterday and he was hail and hearty at that time.

You are right, I am wrong.

I misremembered this from an announcement a couple of months ago on another forum of someone who operated another company who'd died, & I suppose that at the time the combination of the flu & anticipating delivery of an order from Spitbits mangled the mental filing.

I've edited my previous post to remove the error; thank you very much for the correction!
