TR2/3/3A Panel lights not working........

Hey my panel lights don't work. What wires should be connected to the switch, it has one red wire hooked to it. Should there be two wires?
Where is a good place to check why its not working?

A good place to start is with a wiring schematic...

Depends on the year of the car, but as you can see in the diagrams, besides the red wire coming from the lighting switch, there should also be a couple of red/white wires going to the lamps. If you have the rheostat type panel switch, then the wiring is a little different...see the wiring diagrams.

Cool so I am missing the red/white wire. It must have just come out. Thanks.

Well it seams all the wires are hooked to the switch It must be something else. Everything else works fine it's just the panel lights that don't work. :nightmare:

First of all, the lighting switch itself has to be on before the panel light switch will work. When the lights are turned on, there should be 12 volts at the red wire of the panel switch and when the panel switch is on, there should be 12 volts at the red/white wires. If you have that and the lights still don't light, either all of the bulbs are burned out (not likely), or you have a bad ground (grounds) on the bulbs. Grounds are tricky in back of the dash. There is a post that they are screwed to, and the ground also relies on the dash being well grounded, including the center facia.

LOL I will try it out later today when I get home but I don't think I have tried it with the lighting switch on.
Thanks.
