There are two CA events, one in Tracy and the other in Willows. I think I already found a perfect $500 car for it!

Anyone game?

This is hilarious! Click the link! Read the FAQ first, then the rules!

Been there...Done that.

Once was enough. Would not do it again.

The other racers at our '08 event were a decent group. And my team-mates were great.
The event "managment"....not so much.
Nothing bad happened to us personally, but we saw decisions by "officials" that were so far from being reasonable and fair, it wasn't funny. We left feeling the "officials" were mean-spirited and un-sportmanlike.
And the driving skill of some of the entrants (nice guys or not) was *atrocious*.

In retrospect, I think it would be *far* better to spend one's time building a simple, dedicated track car for HPDEs, time trials, autocross or track days. Run it in NASA, or your local track club. You could do it for $500 easily. Then you'd be doing some *real* track driving.

You can see our '08 team report ~HERE~

This is just my 2 cents and if you find the Lemons event OK, more power to you.
We were hoping for a fun, easy motorsports event.
To me, this was more like Lollapalooza administered by Cruella deVil....except with cars.

I've heard decent reviews from some other 24 Hours of Lemons events but Nial's experience seems to pop to the forefront of my memory whenever I think about that event. It sounds like the "Officials" don't travel with the event to the different locations so the experience could vary drastically from one location to the next. If you do enter though, make sure you will have zero emotional investment in the car, you might not be able to take it home, If its a car you think you might want to enjoy on a track more than once, go the other route that Nial suggested.
