Need help with oil filters

Its been a frustrating couple of days here....
I'm digging into an engine (1275) I bought years ago that was supposedly
'race built', whatever that means. The bottom end looks good as do the cylinders.
One stumbling block is the original oil filter assy & pipe were replaced with spigots
presumably for an external filter and oil cooler which I do not have.

I'm attempting to put everything back to original and have a good stash of
oil filter housings and pipes. It turns out there are several variations.
And none of them seem to fit my engine!

Question...There is an adaptor on the oil filter aluminum housing that the metal
pipe screws into. The only ones I have are female to male. Was there an adaptor
that is male to male and is that correct for the 1275? I'm sure I'm missings something
obvious. I can get things close to lining up but not quite and don't want to
destroy a pipe (steel) by trying to bend it.

And yes, I know the best thing to do is buy a spin on adaptor. This I will
do eventually but right now I'm cobbling together parts to shove this engine
into my project Midget to run it for a while to see if it has any issues.

Found the problem. There were two different 'pedistals' used between the engine block and
the aluminum filter housing. The aluminum pedistal was used with the 948. The 1275 used
a steel pedistal.

On to the next issue...
