1960 TR3A - front brake pad replacement.
I purchased part number 585-502 from Moss and they are different form the ones that I am replacing.
In the image below the old pad is on the left and the new one is on the right.
Comments??
Thanks,
Steve

Hmmm - looks like you may have TR3B(TCF) / late TR4 calipers if the pads on the left are what were in there.

Looking at this illustration - are your calipers type B or type C? Do they secure the pads with pins or with a retaining plate?

I think your car would originally have had type B but perhaps someone put type C calipers on as a replacement.

There is a note in Piggott that some "very late" 3As were fitted with the later type brakes. He only mentions the brake rotors, but the calipers would have gone along with them. "However it has not so far proved possible to identify any change point." probably means there was no 'clean' change point (as with so many other changes).

Up to you, of course, but I'd just return them and buy the TR4 components. If you do want to swap back to the earlier calipers, you should also check that the rotors & caliper mounting brackets are the earlier type.

Sorry about the late reply. My calipers are indeed the "C" Type. Thanks for pointing out the image. Pins rather than clamping plate. I should have seen that.:confuse:
A previous owner must have upgraded.
Thanks for the reply's.
