I'm looking for a clock to mount in the dash board of my TR6 where the dimmer reostat is located. If I can find a Smiths 2" analog clock I can cut a hole encompassing the reostat hole and the indicator lamp (what ever it indicates) and have a usable accesory there since the reostat is always full on anyway. Does anyone know of a suitable after market clock or another british car that has a suitable clock in it?

Hi,

I've seen quite a few of those sell on eBay and it seems many of them are pretty unreliable. You might take a look at AutoMeter's website. They sell some vintage style gauges that might look appropriate (and be more dependable). Stewart Warner doesn't seem to have any clocks. VDO does, but appears to have fewer styles available than AutoMeter.

Cheers!

I've heard the same comments about Smiths clocks. I'm a big fan of VDO and there are actually several styles available. You can get a general idea of what's out there (VDO and AutoMeter) by visiting www.egauges.com

The VDO clocks show up regularly on eBay. Depending on the market at the time, they sell between $10 and $30. You can also search eBay for Volvo clocks. These are made by VDO. It's hard to tell what price the Volvo clocks will go for. I've picked up a pair for as little as $4/each... but when people want them they go for up to $30.

CLOCK QUESTION,i bought a very nice Smith/Jaeger quartz analog clock on EBAY about a year ago and have it installed in my 79 Spit 1500 presently. It fits nicely into the 21/4"Dia)cutout area above the cigar lighter, that hole is exactly the diameter of the case, slid right in.Purchased on EBAY from a UK supplier/Ebay store. But for the life of me i've forgotten the website/store.The clock was new still in the original black/red box.And the clock has been operating accurately for over a year now without even a hiccup.,keeps perfect time.Cost was $85.00USD.The clock face says Smith/Jaeger France. If anyone would like to see a photo.email'> KENSPITFIRE@HOTMAIL.COM It make a beautiful addition to the dash.I know there out their just need to do patient searches.
