One of my earliest cars was an ex Nassau County auction Cop Plymouth Fury from around 1963.
Dad supervised my sealed bid of $151, won it buy $1.
Turned out the transmission was dead.
Fortunately Dad was an expert mechanic and rebuilt it for next to nothing.
Paint job was about $100 from a neighborhood shop.
That was a fast car zero to 90, but no top end.
Abused it for a few years and got tired of it.
Eventually sold it for about $1500, but can't remember what I replaced it with.

I don't think CHP used Fords that year,at least I never remember seeing one.
The Maverick hubcaps don't look right either.

It's a definite fake it was just a plain old Ford Galaxy when he bought it
Which makes it even better - I love when people do things that are fun and unique with their cars.

I love the real ex-police cars, but I think it would get old owning one,
as you have to cover up the logos & lights while driving on public roads.
I was tempted to buy a used CHP Mustang when you could still get
one from the CHP.

Most of the municipal sources remove all logos and cop equipment before sale.
The one I got was stripped down to the paint.

Not a problem here in the UK to emulate a cop car from over seas, but not one of our own,
Impersonating a police officer is a big no no

First car I ever actually paid money for was ex-police (Thiensville WI), but it was an unmarked '88 Crown Vic so no worries about emblems or paint job. It was subtle silver, and the only giveaways that it wasn't a grandpa car were the spotlight and lack of a vinyl roof.

That, and the fact that it could keep up with Corvettes pretty well. Oh, and the stupid punk beating the snot out of it...

The other day this came on the radio - one of my favourites
