LBC engine ? sort of OT

I am really trying to avoid bombing this list with OT stuff but this one really gets me...Want a V8 that will EASILY fit into your LBC? Check this out. And I don't even know how to turn on a Bridgport machine! Jack

Aww, Jack, we'll see where this one goes....hehehehe

Yeah, but for a fully laid out Coneley 1/4 scale engine, I could have a REALLY nice FULL scale MGB! or MGA, AH 3000, Spridget, (non-e-type) Jaguars, Alfa Romeo, or almost any normal (non exotic/supercar) car I can think of (and probably a few I can think of).

The one in the first post is nicer looking than the Coneley, but for my money, I want something that can drive.

Also, I don't own a machine shop, so making my own is way out of the question.

As-if!!! If I had a machine shop, It would be 110% devoted to LBC's and other classic sportscars (full sized only please).

And for those who don't want to build it themselves there is always this guy.

$14K for a RC car! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

As said before any number of real size ones could be had for that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Building one yourself as a hobby I can understand- craftsmanship, skill, getting out of the house, etc. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

If you'd like to try building some working model engines, but the ones above is a bit daunting, try one of mine.
I have a number of simple, working, model steam engines (with plans) on my web site.
Some can be built in just a few hours.

Go here and be sure to scroll down to the links:

The Conley link was meant to be tongue in cheek!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
I'm with all of you in that I'd rather spend my money on a full size car. The price for some of the model stuff is quite ridiculous and I should now since I have been building RC planes for over 25 years! Most of the excitement for me is when I see what I have built take to the air for the first time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I don't get the same enjoyment from the ready made stuff.

I'd have thought the greater excitement was landing in one piece....

I feel that way with the big ones when I'm inside looking out.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Landing it for the first time in one piece is just one big sigh of relief (especially if you have more than $1k in it, not to mention all of the time)...and then you are able to relax your sphincter! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Reminds me of something a college buddy who flew over 50 missions in Vietnam off of an aircraft carrier told me: "taking off is really cool...landing is a bitch though!"

One additional piece of advice from me...never go four-wheeling with one of those guys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Isn't it interesting, James, how 2 people read a simple sentence like that completely different! I saw it as a question about subject matter; you saw it as a question about a definition....it just goes to shows how important it it to be concise on a BBS.....& how arguments can just jump up out of nowhere, for no reason

...great question, Bruce! Thanks for giving me the opening!

It seems really easy for me to read things wrong...
but with luck Bruce got some kind of answer to his question. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

James, you must be a newsgroup type. I interpret "OT" as "Off Topic" as well... It continually amazes me how few US internet users have no clue what Uusenet is.

"...and Formula 1 must be a cookie recipe."

I used to practically live on Usenet....and hated web based forums, but they've improved a lot over the years. The only two MG newsgroups I ever found were rec.autos.makers.mg and uk.rec.cars.mg. The former no longer exists (at least on my Roadrunner server), and the latter is hardly used at all - only 14 posts for the month. Only one of those was MGB related and, oddly enough, the reply was from Rob Edwards...who posts at MGBE, and possibly here too.
