TR2/3/3A I need an old TR2/3 top or tonneau cover...

I'd like to have an old, worn, torn, ripped, worn-out top and tonneau cover to use as a pattern for making new pieces.

Does anybody have any old tops or tonneau covers that can be begged, borrowed or stolen? (Or bought cheap?) Early pieces would be the best but I can make any year work..

Lemme know...

Remember to allow for shrinkage on your patterns.
Just remembered that old Seinfeld episode, but I digress.

I'm going to have a local upholstery guy try to do this stuff...and I want to use a Sunfast-style material that won't shrink...we'll see how this works.

None of the usual suspects in the British car aftermarket expressed any interest in building a top to my specs. I want a small GLASS rear window for my TR2...so I'll see if I can source it myself. Robbins never even had the courtesy of answering my emails...

I have a cheap, ugly J.C. Whitney top you can have fer nuttin. It's on (not in) the trash can in the lab. I was gonna toss it out. It came with the racecar.

I think Doug is saying the old top you use as a pattern will surely have shrunk. If you make an exact replica of that it could be a very tight fit. You want it to be tight of course, but not too tight.

I found my original old top. I believe it's original due to the use of thread stitching and yellow windows but not completely positive. Don Elliot listed a while back the differences in the tops and how they were attached over the years so I'm not sure if mine would be a good match. I have 1959 TR3A TS54794LO - let me know if you want it.

Just out of curiousity, why on earth do you want a glass window. I can give you size and location when you need.

Remember that the very early 2s had the front tonneau pegs mounted in front of the dash pad rather than through it as on later cars.

Lou,

I've always liked the look of the small glass windows. Since THIS top is being made locally I don't mind that it's not 100% correct. I just need one for the summer and fall weather. The size would be about 8" tall by 22" wide.

Twosheds,

I could really use that. You can send me a PM with your address or PayPal email address and I'll get some $$$ out to cover the shipping.

Thanks.

twosheds,

I got the top today...just what I wanted. Thank you very much.

Your check for $1,000,000 is on the way. Simply take the shipping cost and send the balance back to me here in Nigeria...hehehe

How would you like the change? Large notes O.K.?

The mice miss that top. You have made them homeless.
