I may be stupid.

Well I believe that I am on the verge of buying a TR2 and a TR3 from my junk yard for $750. I hope that when I get into them I can build one car and have a few useful parts left over. My wife thinks I'm stupid and I'm on the fence myself.

The adventure begins!

(you'll have a great time, but be prepared for a few surprises ...)

Sounds like fun to me, if you've got the time, facilities and inclination.

Ask your wife if she would prefer that you were sitting on a bar stool somewhere ...

Doesn't sound stupid to me, not for that kind of money, especially if you think you have enough sheet metal between the two to make a car.

But then again, maybe that is a dumb idea. By the way, just where is that junkyard?

Not stupid at all. Maybe crazy, but fun. FWIW - I have people tell me all the time I need to sell the TR6 and get another car to rebuild. Now THAT would be stupid, at this point anyway.

Walter, go for it, man!

TR-3 = maybe the most fun of all Triumphs to drive; good value that keeps rising (just look at TR-3 prices over the past decade).

But if you do, you must post lots of photos of your progress, please. :yesnod:

Good luck. Also, if it's taken this long for your wife to figure out that you're "over the fence", well . . .

So she fits in with my wife and about a hundred others here as well.....

Go for it. That hole in Nutmeg's picture is the money pit that you can begin to fill up as you get further into your project. We all have one of those in our garage.

Right Don, but with two cars, I only had room for one hole. It just got deeper.

Awww...c'mon....TR2/3.....23......?? Not even a smirk?

Walter, rebuilding a TR2 should be a good investment as LHD cars are bringing unbelievable money in Europe, due to the scarcity factor. That's providing you don't have to shell out a fortune on body and paint.

Something to remind your good wife of on the journey, along with the handy returns from all the surplus parts you can toss onto Ebay.

Cheers,

Viv.

Misery loves company. Just kidding. I love my TR2. Lots of TR3A's.Not many TR3 smallmouths. TR2's get the girls. Dance to a different drummer and every will envy your dance.Enjoy the journey.

LBC: a hole in the road into which you pour your money.

I tell my wife that it is an investment. It IS doing as well as my others.
