How to lock the boot....

So, I got the key to lock the doors and everything just the otherday from the PO. I am able to lock the doors. I am also able to put the key in the trunk locking part and turn it, but it doesn't stay locked. I took a deeper look inside and discovered that it must me missing something. Or something like that, dad isn't here to share his knowledge. So, my question is, can anybody send me a picture of a working trunk lock on an 80 B. Mucho appreciated. Oh, the key also will not work on the glovebox or counsol. Do you think that has a seperate key too? The PO's didn't drive it often and it was never locked because it was kept in a garage and it was the lady's father's car before he died. How many stupid keys do I have to keep up with now????? I have 2 ignition keys, a gas key, and a door key. Why couldn't they be simple and just stick to one key!?!?!?!?!?!? argh!!!!! :madder: Any insight? thanks again

Here's a picture from inside the boot. It is possible that the boot lock/latch has been replaced and a different key fits....one never knows.

Hope this helps.

So... I'm a clutz. This morning I talked to my dad about the lock and aked him to look at it before he went to work. He showed me up. He was able to lock it. I was doing it wrong. I was turning the key and turning it back. Like how you do on the doors... soo embarrasing  So, there is nothing wrong with it. Now all we have to do is fix the stabilizer, probably the fans, and get some insurance and i'm good to go.

Well young lady, don't be embarrassed about such a trivial mistake! Some of us slightly older, (I use that term loosely), folks have been around some of these cars longer than we care to say and we still make mistakes at times. Just chalk anything like this up as a learning experience and one day, you'll be telling some of us how to solve a problem. Along with your Dad, experience is the best teacher! PJ
