I just put two new sticker tires on the front and the bride and I took it for a nice break in ride of 200 miles or so. The tires didn't bite good at first but after the mold release got worn off and the tires got warm they did well.
OK, first problem car rides relatively smooth until right at 60mph then there is a shimmy. I balanced all 4 tires last week when I put the new tires on the front and turned the back ones around on the wheels (all blackwalls now). I trust the bubble balancer that I use and so I suspect the front rotor might be out of balance. I am convinced it is the driver side front tire. My plan is to take that wheel off and pry the caliper pads back a bit and then put the wheel back on and balance it all by hand with the car jacked up and the wheel free on the bearing.
Second problem, cutting out at speed. Here is the symptom. Car is hot, drive it a while and notice a small miss. Its not a one cylinder miss but a random miss like a bad condenser, etc. It gradually gets worse. I stopped the car on the parkway and ran some emery cloth through the points and then some clean paper and cheked everything over for about 10 minutes. When I started back up, it ran flawlessly for about another 20 min then started again. One thing I noticed is that the coil was so hot I could not keep my hand on it. What temp should the coil be after an hour of hard pulling in the mountains?
