Here's the work so far. Pulled up carpet and the glued-on padding. Found rust through and surface rust. Adhesive removed with paint stripper, wire brushed off loose rust, coated surfaces with phosphoric acid and wiped off (pic 1).

Pic 2: first coat of POR-15. used vinyl tape on reverse to provide "backing" for POR-15 at pinholes.

Pic 3: covered rust-through areas with fiberglass mats on wet POR-15.

Pic 4: recoated with POR-15; waited 4 hours per instructions, then recoated with POR-15.

This morning, surfaces are dry and hard. Should get me through the summer and fall. Will probably do the same treatment to driver side floorpan.

Thanks for the help guys!
Tom

Tom, that looks really nice. Were you able to peel the tape off of the bottom? Also, are you planning on painting the bottom of the floor pan?
I am thinking of doing something similar to my car. Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone who sells POR15 locally, but I will find a reasonable alternative.

I've done a few floor pan fix-ups like that and they work very well. You'll be happy...

You can buy it on ebay.
