The electric fans(stock) on my mg are wired backwards. They Pull air from the engine compartment instead of push it through. Is this correct? Also whats the best electric fan kit available? Cost? Worth it? Do you leave the stock fans in when you put in a new aftermarket electric fan?
thanks

Re: fans

Tom, the fans have been running backwards since I owned the car(1 year). When searching for my overheating problem I noticed they weren't very efficent at blowing air through the radiator, I grabbed a plastic bag to see how hard they blew and it gently sucks the bag onto the radiator
Thanks Any opinions on the aftermarket electric fans??

Re: fans

Are the fan blades spinning in the direction they are designed to?
Fan blades are designed to spin in a certain direction. Depending on the design, you could get almost no airflow if they are spinning the wrong direction.
It should be fairly obvious wich direction they are suposed to turn, if they are not turning that direction, swap the wires around and you may be suprised how much air they move.

Re: fans

Was/is your car positive ground? My TF was positive, converted to negative ground, so DC motors (would) run backwards (if it had any).

I just bought an aftermarket 10" fan marketed by "Tornado" for my sons 78 "B". You have the option of it being either a pusher, or puller. It is all subject to which side of the radiator it is put on, and which is your preferance. All it requires is to alter the leads and flip the blades over. Actually very simple process. I think it cost me about 100cdn. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cowboy.gif
