Hey all,
Has anyone ever tried to dye the vinyl piping on a Healey seat with the new vinyl dyes that actualy work well? Looking to go from red to black piping on red seats.
Thanks,
Mike

I've never heard of anyone trying that. I guess you could but make sure you tape the leather inserts real well because if the dye leaks onto the leather it would be very difficult to remove. What's wrong with red seats??

Well if you are then take the covers to a upholstery shop and have them changed Coz what you have in mind, using the new vinyl dies , is going to ruin the whole shebang--Fwiw--Keoke

That's kind of what I was concerned with as well. If I wanted to change the
entire seat color could probably do that pretty well with the new dyes that actually penetrate the leather or vinyl as opposed to just dyeing the surface. But like Johnny said, one slip and there goes the whole deal. I like the red seats just like 'em with black piping a bit more but will leave well enough alone !!!
Thanks,
Mike

I think red with black piping is the nicest colour scheme, particularly with ivory paint. Even had hopes my Bn4 would have them as the photos showed reddish seats which turned out to be a light brown tonneau draped over them. Oh well.

Here are some expensive BJ8 ones for sale in Hampshire UK. mmmm red.

I've seen that Brit ebay vendor before - does have some interesting stuff. If I really have to have the red with black piping, AH Spares sells a very nice leather set for 399 pounds or about $640 right now + freight. I'll stick with my red with red piping for now !!!

Hey Rich,
Have a 1956 100M that is red over black and has the solid red interior.Original exterior and interior color per the Heritage Certificate. Black piping is simply a preference to solid red as not sure if it came with black piping but suspect it did.
Regards,
Mike

On the certificate it was a "special" order Healey blue car withe RED interior and top!!!!!!
