Clutch Driven Plate Thickness

Good evening,

With my clutch removed, I'm inspecting my clutch driven plate to determine whether or not it needs to be replaced at this time. It is about 9/32" thick. I have no idea how thick a new plate usually is. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Daniel

I just measured the Borg & Beck disc that came out of my TR6 with 800 miles on it and it has 10/32's of material on it. You are in good shape for material, but how is the surface? Shiny or glazed? Any heat cracks? Is there ant blue color on the pressure plate or any burn marks? Does the PP look glazed or have any grooves in it? How is the flywheel? Any burn marks, blue spots, cracks or glaze? Did the car shudder or shake when the clutch was let out?

Now is also the time to check and repair any wear in the cross shaft, the fork and pins and the screw lock through the fork and shaft. Also, how is the pilot bearing and rear main seal/front transmission seal? How about the seals and gaskets on the top, back and sides of the transmission?

No time like the present to fix anything that needs it.

Lastly, the clutch master and slave cylinders and the line between them as well.

I hope this wasn't info overload! You said any advice appreciated.

Paul,

I'd say it was shiney and glazed. I noticed that there are some peculiar gouges/streaks on both sides of the driven plate (heat streaks?).

Paul,

Here is a picture of the flywheel. My wife and I agree that there is a blue-hue to it. What does this mean?

Thanks,
Daniel

Take it off and have a machine shop resurface the face we are looking at to get any hot spots and high/low spots cut down. That will be a good time to replace the pilot bearing and rear main seal.
