This was found in an in-law estate. Any chance you can identify what car it came from?

My guess would be Peugeot, but have no idea as to the year.
 
It's definitely the shape of the Peugeot lion. More ornate than any I've seen, though. Nice item!

I think that is the

Creast of the Golden Monkey.

They originated in India
(since it was a British Colony once)
And were placed on the hoods of many
of their
fine automobiles.

And their purpose was to give the
Indian Driver's a center piece to
concentrate on when officiating
a turning procedure.

That way when they came to the USA
it made it easy for them to pass the test
to get a job as a cab driver.
