Been asked to help with a disc brake and wire wheel conversion problem on a BN4.Having assembled the hub and disc to stub axle with the correct inter bearing shimming,on attempting to mount the caliper,it is hard up against the disc.Taking measurements, disc needs to be moved 2mm outwards. Is there supposed to be a spacer between the stub axle and inner bearing(which seems to be the case) or are there supposed to be shimming washers between caliper and carrier?Or ideas'

I used the brakes from a BN7 on my BN6, and did not run into any issues. Well, just a minor one; the paint on the caliper and bracket mating surfaces had to be scraped clean because of interference.

As far as I know, there are no spacers or shims, either required or available.

Makes me wonder if you've somehow mis-matched parts from the pre-BJ8 front discs to the later BJ8 only setup (calipers from one/discs from the other, or vice-versa?).

A few recent pictures of my setup:

Thanks Randy for pics, you were right there was a mismatch, matey had ordered the wrong discs, got onto AH spares(where he ordered the parts from) and they were very helpful in sorting it out,the early discs have different offset to the later set up where the caliper mount is integral part of the stub axle assembly.
