BJ8 small cracks in shroud

Evening gents

Had my hood up admiring how nice and shiny my aluminum valve cover was, and noticed something that spoiled the party.
At the grille end of the shroud, on either side of the hood locking mechanism, there are some small cracks (about 1-2 inches) that have appeared, which run up both sides of the drain channel.

Haven't seen this wrinkle before, or on my other BT7. I know these cars take a pounding with the scuttle shake, and our city streets in the Great White North are nothing short of cruel and unusual punishment, but has anyone else had this issue? As far as I can see, the only remedy involves removing the shroud and TIG welding the cracks, which is about as appealing as dental surgery, and hard on the kids' inheritance.

As a side note, thanks to Roger (Ausmhly) for reminding me that my ill fitting softop still needs some corrective surgery. Yeah, thanks a lot....LOL

Cracks in those places are not uncommon. They're actually cracks in the seams where the sections of the shroud were welded together. I had them in my BN2 shroud. And yes, the only real fix is re-welding. You may as well do the seam on the other side too.
