BJ8 Seat Installation and Transmission Cover Screw Grommets

I have a 67 BJ8 that has been apart for a while. I'm putting the interior back together and have a question regarding the carpets where the seat slides fit. Do the slides fit on top of the carpet or are there slots in them? My car could use some new shims for the seat slides and the wood spacers but I can only find the parts at 3 different suppliers. Does anyone know of a source preferably in the US where I could source those parts along with the grommets for the transmission tunnel mounting screws? I spent most of yesterday afternoon in 4 different hardware stores and couldn't find anything even close.

Carpet should have slots to go around the sliders. Carpet should be held down with snaps. 4 hardware stores. If it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have not luck at all.

I think I have a set (driver/passenger) metal shims and wood pieces in storage. PM if interested.

I have a pair of original wood spacers in my gently used parts bin if your interested .

Moss here in the USA sells the wood pieces. Not sure about the metal pieces that go under the wood. You should be able to find that at a hardware store. Well maybe not the 4 you went to.

Never heard of such animals. I've always assumed the cover is held down with sheet metal screws. Anyway, what do I know; my car never had any and I never put any in. The cover pretty much stays in place without them, and it's easier if you have to get to the gearbox (like the time I had to install a new speedometer cable in a hotel parking lot).

I gave up on the snaps years ago and now use Velcro to hold the carpet in place on the floors and tunnel. Using multiple strips of Velcro allows the Carpet to be better fitted to the tunnel. I use 2” wide Velcro.
