Another fuel pump dilemma

Hello everyone,
I know someplace in the forum there is a discussion on the correct replacement SU fuel pumps for a BJ7, but I can't seem to find it. I have a 63 BJ7 and ordered what I thought was going to be an AZX1308 but when it arrived it's a 1307. I recall that some folks are running the 1307, but all I read from Burlen, etc. is that the 1308 which has higher pressure is the correct pump. Please share some opinions you have and whether I should send it back and get a higher pressure pump or is it a big deal?

Akilter, This is just my opinion but I don't believe you need any higher pressure fuel pump than what was original to the car. I've been messing with carburators of all kinds for over 40 years and with higher pressure you run the risk of flooding problems with the carbs. SU included. Here's a picture of one of the two pumps on my BJ7.

Thanks Vette! I appreciate your input very much and I agree completely with you about too much pressure in the system. I know that 1.1 psi isn't a lot, but there must be a reason SU builds the 2 different pumps... Thanks for the pic too!

The 65 through67 Healy 3000 used the 1308 series pump ,Jaguar also used it.?
 
Hey Keoke, I stand corrected, sort of. I really don't remember what pressure each car might have been built with, but what I said was that I don't believe a car needs any higher pressure than what it originally was built with. Of course that would mean the engine was stock or close too it. As an example, my BJ7 has an off road cam and HD8 (BJ8) Carbs but I use the stock BJ7 fuel pump. But your facts are well taken.

Are those copper tubes to and from your pump? Copper tends to work-harden and crack with vibration, not that we have that on a Healey. If they aren't copper, they look nice.
 
John, Those pipes are original replacement pipes for the Healey, I just straightened and reshaped them to my application. I bought them from Healey Surgeons in D.C. i'm pretty sure they are a copper/nickel alloy which I'm told is commonly used in some very expensive modern cars.
