Alexander Turner GT Coupe [Prototype]

Thought I would share some images of teh current project. The car is a one off - Williams & Pritchard alluminium GT body built over a Turner MKII chassis running gear. The car was built by Tuning company Alexander Engineering for Battle of Britain Hurricane pilot K.W. Mackenzie who race it all around the UK in the early 60's including teh 61 Goodwood TT race. I found this car in a terrible mess in a cow shed in Shropshire England and the restoration is now well underway. The car is fitted with a rare Alexander cross flow alloy head for the BMC A engine. The colour image was taken at Oulton Park around 1961.

I'm impressed! It stands out from many similar low volume & one-off cars because of the aluminum body. It's a pretty little thing - the lines have hints of several other cars but somehow everything works. Plus - it has a history!

Cheers John - Should look something special when finished. Here are a few other period pics - Story goes Mike Parkes (Ferrari F1 Driver)and Tim Fry (Rootes designer - Imp etc0 had a hand in the design - looks like a mini GTO with a hint of shark nose

Nice. To me the rear looks like that of a Jabro Mk. III (look at #87 below) and a 350GT Lamborghini. I think the Jabro was a contemporary (about 1958) but the Lambo design would have come after. Coincidence in any case, I'm sure.

Looks like it could be warm in there during the summer. Do the windows come out?

How long do you anticipate it will take you to complete the restoration? Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one...

Hi & Thanks - I should think it will be finished during the next 12 months - It is due to go in for paint next month and then just reassembly and fine tuning - I will post pictures as things progress.
