This Small car have been in my wife's family for more than 35years and was used as bakery delivery car.
Now it's time for a small restoration,no big things as it's not too bad shape, some paint job and it need a new rear diff as this has cracked.

This is how she looks at the moment

That is such a classic!

Engine bay looks very good. What are your plans for the interior?

(Oh, to have more storage space ...)
Tom M.

I have the idea of changing the interior putting some nice wood but having in mind I will use this car for as utility van for a bit of everything.
1, The exterior will need some respray and dent repairs,
2, Chromes is in poor condition so I will look over this as well.
3,All window seals need to be changed
But first of all I need to find a new (used) diff as this car has the differential completely broken.

love the countryman!

As I haven't a clue about Austin, Where can I buy new window gummy seals and how about chrome parts are they available or its question of rechrome the one I have?

great! is that how it was originally?

No, it’s not how it was, But yes it’s how I want it to be.
Im in a small dilemma with how to make the car, The things to consider is:
1.My car has the differential broken and need “new one”, I have found one locally at the island for 500€.
2. The oem brakes is old crap which is very dangerous as the local roads who climb from seaside to 1800mtr at a normal Sunday drive. Need a upgrade for safety reasons.
3. Engine power and fuel consumption.......

The question is if maybe it’s better swapping engine, whole driveline, suspension and brakes....
I need taking that with my pillow trying makeup mi mind...
I have swapped many engines at cars so this is not new to me,but I’m not shore I want beguine with all that mess again.

Nice woodwork! Is that a 914/6 in the garage?
If I were you,I'd build it they way I wanted, but leave the
body stock.

You are right I have two Porsche 914, One 914-4 converted to 6cyl with a 3.2 engine and one original 914-6👍
My idea is not to make changes to the bodywork or shape of the Austin.
I just want to make it work better and safer, I’m not searching for Performance at all with this car.

This is first time I make something with wood and have to say I have a great time making this work,

A upholstery question!
What kind of upholstery do you believe is the correct one for this old car?
1. Clean and keep the original one as a survivor?
2. Put a two tone interior?
3. Combine vinyl/Tartan at the seats?
Keep in mind this car will be used as a weekend camper at local beaches and mountains..

I vote keep it original - but you can't go wrong with any of the choices

As I now want to transform it to funny weekend and beach car I’m considering putting in some colourful interior
