Spitfire 77 Spitfire 1500 Questions

I am trying to sort out some problems with my 77 1500 Spitfire and have the following questions on a couple items:

1. Is the chrome bezel the same for the front and rear sidemarkers?

2. On the gas tank sender unit which of the wire connections on the sender unit is the ground? Top or bottom? What are the color of the wires going to the top and bottom tabs of the sender unit?

3. What does the attachment bracket look like for holding the tachometer to the dash? Is it similar to the brackets used for the speedometer? When I purchased the car the tachometer was not held into the dash. I tried using the brackets (similar to those holding in the speedometer) from an older style mechanical tachometer but they do not fit. Are the electric tachometers held by a larger version of the bracket holding the smaller gauges (fuel, temp) to the dash?

Thanks,

Gary

To the best of my knowledge, the tachometer brackets should be almost identical to those holding the speedometer.

Some replacement fuel sending units are different than early OEM parts. The early stock sender will have one spade lug spot welded to the sending unit flange. That terminal receives the "black" wire. The second terminal is mounted in an insulator and it receives the green/black wire.

I have a replacement sender in my car and to my surprise, both terminals were insulated from the sending unit flange. When both terminals are insulated it does not matter which wire goes where.
